Kalbar State School Memorial Board

St George Hall, South Kolan
Timber Honour Board listing 14 members of the Kalbar School who served and, in some instances, died during the Great War 1914 - 1918. The capitol of the board displays a carved floral design. The Board was donated by Mrs. James Thygesen, whose son, Peter Andew Thygesen, was killed on the 31st July 1917 in Belgium. His body was never recovered and he is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial to the Missing. Also listed on the board is William King Wood, a first cousin to Peter Thygesen and his brother Charles (also listed on the board). William was killed in November of 1916 and he is buried in the Becourt Military Cemetery, Becordel-Becourt, France. Charles came home safely.
